At more than $100, they're not cheap but they've become a must have -- especially for teenage girls. What many

Ugg lovers don't realize though is, according to one podiatrist, the flat, shear ling lined boots are actually bad for your feet.

"They keep your feet warm in the winter and summer. You don't have to wear socks with them, that's the main reason I bought them," said Crystal resident Angie Peterson.

"They're comfortable," said Minneapolis resident Amanda Weinkauf.

They're a major fashion trend that hasn't gone out of style yet in Minnesota.

"I think they're ugly," said Weinkauf.

That doesn't stop thousands of women and girls from wearing and loving the

Ugg boots.

"Very comfortable, they feel like pillows on your feet," said Peterson.

However, podiatrists warn the shear ling boots are actually hard on your feet.

"The biggest problem with them is the fact that they have no support. They're completely flat on the bottom," podiatrist Dr. Kari Prescott.

Doctors say that lack of arch support can lead to foot and leg problems.

"If you don't have external support, all the muscles in your legs, really from the knee down, can become achy, sore. Some people refer to that as shin splints," said Prescott.

A foot condition called plantar fasciitis, or heel spurs, may also happen. Slipping in an arch support can help.

"This provides some curvature and it's not ideal," said Prescott.

And even forewarned about potential problems,

Uggs wearers still love their boots.

"No, I'd probably still wear them," said Peterson.

"I'd still wear them," said Weinkauf.

"It's always fashion over practicality, isn't it?" said Prescott.

Ugg Australia said they've been in business for 30 years and haven't had complaints about their classic flat shear ling

Uggboots hurting feet. They say the boot sells so well because it is comfortable.

As for arch support, Ugg Australia said they have 140 styles coming out for fall '09 and many of those do have arch supports in them. They said they also are adding outer support and added comfort features to the classic

cheap ugg boots.

Doctors say flat shear ling boots can actually be harder on feet than high heels because they're worn for longer periods of time. And it appears Uggs are recession proof because they remain a top seller.

Part 1, What are TOD files?

Video file captured by a JVC Everio video camera, such as the GZ-HD3 and GZ-HD7; saved in a proprietary format that can be viewed using the Cyberlink software included with JVC video cameras.

Recent versions of other video-editing programs may also be able to import TOD files (see below); the included Cyberlink PowerDirector application can import TOD files and export them as .MPG files, which are viewable by most video-editing programs.

NOTE: Some JVC Everio cameras save video files with a .MOD extension, which is similar to the TOD format.

Part 2, MOD and TOD files

MOD and TOD are informal names of tapeless video formats used by JVC (MOD and TOD), Panasonic (MOD only) and Canon (MOD only) in some models of digital camcorders. Format names correspond to extensions of video files. Neither JVC nor Panasonic, who pioneered the format, explained meaning of the file extensions. MOD is used exclusively for standard definition video files, while TOD is used for high definition files. The formats were never given an official name.

MOD video can be viewed on a computer with a player that is capable of reproducing MPEG-2 video. This video can be easily authored for watching on a DVD player without recompression, as it is fully compliant with DVD-video standard.

TOD format is comparable with AVCHD, but cannot be directly played on consumer video equipment. Media files must be packaged into distribution formats like HD DVD or Blu-ray Disc, using authoring software. One of TOD recording modes, "1440CBR", has the same frame size, aspect ratio and frame rate as 1080i HDV, and can be loosely called "HDV on disk".

Introduction

My name is Eva, and I have lived in Toppenish all of my life. The ups and downs of country life have been emotionally challenging. I grew up on a ranch thriving with cattle, lost my dad when I was in high school, and I have had been working since I was fourteen.
Growing up I lived on cattle ranch, and our family ran over four hundred head of cattle. I learned how to ride a horse about the same time I learned to walk. My brother and I started riding in the hills, herding cattle, when we were about five or six years old. We learned the meaning of hard work and responsibility at an early age. There are many duties involved in ranching, besides the breeding of cattle; we farmed alfalfa and corn through the summer to be able to feed the cows through winter. It was exhausting work, I hated when I was young, but I am grateful for the experience now that I am older.
My mom and dad divorced when I was young, and brought an end to the big ranch life I grew up with. The ranch was split in half and it seemed different after that. My mom remarried and I did not spend a lot of time with my dad. My dad passed away when I was a sophomore in high school. Sometimes I regret not knowing him better when I think back on the days we spent ranching.
I started working when I was fourteen, mostly in the summer, on the summer youth program. I chose to work instead of going to college. Ever since I have worked a variety of jobs, from waiting tables, a bookkeeper, to being a fish culturist. Most of the jobs I enjoyed, but I have never felt like I loved what I was doing. This is why I have enrolled at Heritage College; in hopes of a career I will enjoy doing everyday.
In my life I have experienced a variety of challenges; I learned ranching at a young age, the loss of my dad, and responsibility of working hard.

It is a question we are frequently asked. It's a valid question since laptop batteries are usually expensive to replace.
